As an Asset Management (AM) Engineer, you will deliver specific aspects of The City of Calgary’s Asset Management Program to all asset-managing Business Units across the organization to ensure compliance with Asset Management policy, legislative requirements, and best practices. Primary duties include: Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the City-wide AM Framework, including policy, best practices, standards, processes and tools, within asset-managing Business Units. Provide asset management consultation, advice, coaching, and mentoring to Business Units. Ensure compliance with City-wide AM Policy and Strategy by promoting the benefits of compliance, monitoring asset-managing Business Units’ performance, providing constructive feedback. Develop and maintain linkage between financial planning and budgeting, Tangible Capital Assets, and the City’s AM Program by creating business rules, processes, and standard operating procedures for asset-managing Business Units across the organization. Facilitate creation of strategic and service-specific Asset Management Plans with supporting Implementation Plans for Business Units across the organization related to the practice of AM. Engage and supervise external consultants when required for implementation and operation of the AM Framework within asset-managing business units. Perform Asset Management Maturity Assessments of asset-managing Business Units. Develop and support City-wide asset management education and training. Develop and deliver City-wide asset management reports as required by various internal and external groups, organizations, and levels of government. Monitor developments in asset management practices, standards, research, trends, and technology to inform continuous improvement in The City’s asset management program. Qualifications A degree in Engineering, with at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work. Experience must be demonstrated in the areas of asset management, asset management information systems, strategic business planning, and implementation of asset management best practices. Project Management experience, particularly with information system implementation, is desirable. Excellent communication, leadership, facilitation, presentation, analytical thinking, business planning and organization skills are essential.
