THE OPPORTUNITY This person reports to the Senior Director Business Operations at NOVONIX Battery Technology Solutions (BTS) and is a key member of the mechanical engineering team. This team provides product design and production support for our Services and UHPC groups. Our Services team provides end-to-end lithium-ion battery prototyping and consulting services to companies worldwide. NOVONIX Ultra-High Precision Colometry (UHPC) equipment is the most precise battery performance testing equipment in the world and is sold to battery companies, R&D labs and universities This position is fully onsite and working from our Bluewater office location. Currently, the working hours for this role are Monday through Friday. Please note that as our company evolves, working arrangements, locations, and hours may change to meet business needs. WHAT YOU’LL DO • Provide mechanical product design and production support for Services and UHPC • Coordinate mechanical engineering activities with other support teams to ensure timely implementation of product design changes and equipment support. • Support the QA program for Services • Responsible for preventative maintenance program for Services equipment, deciding spare parts items to be stocked, setting the parts up in Kanban, creating those parts in our ERP system and deciding stock reorder points and reorder quantities in consultation with Purchasing. • Coordination with other groups at BTS and outside contractors to ensure preventative maintenance work is done. Keeping records of work done. • Assist the Services technical teams when assessing customer projects that are outside of our normal scope of operations. • Assisting with customer visits as needed. • Ensuring equipment reliability and availability (uptime) to meet Services team needs. • Planning for business expansion from an equipment perspective including selection of new and replacement equipment. • Coordination with Accounting for Fixed Asset purchases. • Formal acceptance testing of new equipment. • Identification and implementation of manufacturing process improvements • Implementation of engineering controls to meet safety requirements • Other duties as assigned WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING • Experienced with equipment troubleshooting and problem solving • Worked on mechanical engineering projects in an R&D or manufacturing environment • Experienced in electrical controls and fluid power applications • Proficient in use of SolidWorks’, AutoCAD, or similar 3D and 2D CAD software • A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative • Well organized and invested in the details • Collaborative, working together with key parties in designing optimal solutions • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously • Creative To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following: • Professional mechanical engineer, registered to practice in Nova Scotia • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience. And it would be extra awesome , if you also have: • PLM experience • Experience using an ERP system, related to parts creation and BOM structures • Experience with FEA • Knowledge of principles of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma • DOE experience
